Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized the Russian player secured his maiden title for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a challenging period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the US Open.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after March of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has secured 21 titles at 21 various events.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my both daughters at once, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the last five points to go ahead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a decider.

Moutet defended four early chances in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, he earned the win with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
